This I Believe

Hello. I do considerable reading in the history of American religions. It’s one of my longstanding interests, though I myself am not religious. For instance, this evening I was reading something about the Shakers. The other night I was re-reading a bit from the demon-haunted Carl Sagan. One of these days I’ll have to get around to looking into spectator sports. But anyways, in pursuing such reading, I often find myself doing a puppy head tilt of incomprehension: Though I understand what’s being said on an intellectual level, I just don’t get it on some fundamental level. The same thing happens when I read the news. Especially when that news is delivered via a “feed” in one form of social media or another. A Ouija board makes more sense. Good Bye.
