Black Friday. A headline reads: “Trading in stock futures this morning is directionless.” Another headline: “Active Shooter in Colorado Springs.” Things run their course. Daylight flags, inspiration too. What’s going on? The almanac says: “Adult insects have become scarce, but birds are very clever at gleaning the twigs, trunks, and buds of trees for overwintering eggs, larvae, and pupae.” The sound of wings. Advent of a downy woodpecker. The sun goes down. Another day.
