No Way To Treat An Active Cemetery
Spent the day writing up notes I took some months ago on an excursion to a sizable New Jersey cemetery that has, as they say in the funeral industry, a “goodly number of interments.” My memory too has a goodly number of interments, but time has vandalized many of the plots. Others I don’t recognize, as though somebody else has been burying things in my grounds. And when did they stop mowing the grass in these spacious fields? It looks terrible! The brambles are impenetrable–I may have to hire a herd of goats to come in and browse it all back. In any case, there’s no room in this graveyard for what all I did today, so I guess I’ll just write it down here and forget about it.
